While clinicians work to treat patients individually when they are sick, public health prevents people from being sick in the first place. The field is focused on improving the living conditions for people around the world.
Impact
Those in public health work at the community or population level. The impact can be local or global. But no matter which population or where they are located, students make different in the lives of others.
Equity and Justice
The basis of preventing disease and impacting communities often begins with addressing the root inequities that cause health disparities. Public health professionals do just that.

What We Do
This Is Public Health, a brand run by the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health, raises awareness about education and career options in public health through student ambassadors, graduate fairs, partnerships, interprofessional activities, and other pipeline-building events for students.

Since the inauguration of the first World Hypertension Day by the World Hypertension League (WHL) in 2005, every May 17 has been symbolic in bringing awareness to the prevention and management of hypertension across the globe.
This year`s theme is "Measure Your Blood Pressure Accurately, Control It, Live Longer”, highlighting the importance of reducing the pervasive low awareness rates globally and encouraging the need for accurate blood pressure measurement methods, especially in low and middle-income countries (LMICs).

Over the years, the conversation around mental health has been changing. The number of individuals seeking help has increased, but therapy still has a stigma among healthcare workers.
58% of physicians report burnout, and 68% report burnout negatively impacting their relationships.
Talking to a mental health professional for a set time consistently shows commitment to yourself. When we commit to caring for our mental health, we can do more and be more present. So in this post, we talk about some of the potential benefits of therapy.

Most healthcare workers experiencing burnout don`t realize it until it manifests and becomes too overwhelming. Burnout is common among health workers, but there are strategies that can help reduce and prevent burnout from becoming unmanageable.

Hi TIPH community! My name is Martina and I am thrilled to do the #AmbassadorTakeover this week during Mental Health Awareness Month! I am a second-year MPH candidate in the Epidemiology track at @utmbhealth. I am passionate about all things primary care. I believe that public health is the bridge that connects science to the general population.
With the projected primary care physician shortages and ongoing healthcare worker burnout, it is time we accept these issues and address them. It takes years of schooling to become a healthcare worker. We can`t let burnout and lack of mental health care steal the joy of providing health services to our community! What is one thing that impacts us all? Work, work, work!
Today is World Day for Safety and Health at Work, a day created by the International Labour Organization (ILO) to highlight the importance of preventing workplace injury, accidents, and diseases.
In June 2022, the ILO`s framework was updated to include "a safe and healthy working environment" as a fundamental principle of workers. Today, the ILO celebrates this decision and brings together experts to discuss how to implement this right in all workplaces.
World Day for Safety and Health at Work demonstrates how public health exists in our everyday lives.

Today is World Malaria Day - a day to highlight the critical need for continued action toward malaria prevention and control. The day was instituted by @who in 2007.
This year`s theme is "Time to Deliver Zero Malaria: Invest, Innovate, Implement," with a specific focus on the implementation component.
Malaria is an urgent global health problem that impacts millions of lives, particularly among vulnerable populations. More effective use of available tools and strategies is necessary to reduce the global burden of malaria.
